Fate of Neutral Omens...

All right, guys. Well, it hasn't been a week yet, but only four people voted in the poll - all on the first day - and the vote is unanimously to, "Try to find new mods and give it three months to see if it improves." Apparently no one else gives a damn. But those who do, want the game to continue.

However, there was one write-in suggestion from Gabs that your mods thought held some promise. We've been discussing it amongst ourselves and are now turning to the players for a final decision. The idea was basically to reset the game. Start over, if you will. Players would be given one last thread to wrap up anything they wanted to wrap up and at the end, Adam does his thing. Then the game goes on hiatus for a month or so while everyone submits formal applications for their characters and we try to recruit new players. After that, we'd start the game again (though the stuff we liked from NO can be copy/pasted into the new game - with mod permission - so we don't have to replay what already worked) and see if we can't move faster and feel enthusiastic again in getting to play without having to slog through all the back story that was established before characters disappeared.

Wouldn't it be cool?! Imagine it being fun to play again...

Oh, and our Brian/Azi-mun has volunteered to be the mod for the new game, with John and I sticking around as advisors, so the game really would be starting anew with fresh ideas and ways of doing things.

I, for one, am pretty excited by the prospect, but we'd like to hear from you. Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

I would absolutely love to see this game continue to succeed, and if a fresh start is what it needs to do so, then I'm all for it.

Perhaps it would also help if we had deadlines for when certain major events such as the final battle should happen e.g. by the end of the year...? Plus a timeframe within which these major events should take place, such as a month? Two months? It might even help to have several threads about major events occurring concurrently which will all join up to a organising thread?

Also, if Luna is not needed, I can volunteer to be the "Evil" side. Or play both. I've always wanted to be Hel, but wasn't too sure if I should/could play her. XD

Hmm. True. Maybe by mutual consensus? *crosses fingers and hopes*

Perhaps as part of the formal application, potential muns have to submit goals for their characters as well? And the application should be made public after approval has been given so that muns can see what each mun hopes to do with their characters?

Oh yes! Join the evil side! *grins and leers* We've got better benefits than that other side. Such as paid vacations; excellent dental; a life insurance policy that will not lose value and when you get your 500th soul contract signed...a free car of your choice. My personal favorite is the new Ferrari, it's like the automobile equivelent of sex.

IT sounds great, and I'm definitely up for this! One thing I'd request, though - if we're going to incorporate the bits of back story from before that worked, then could there be a post somewhere on MP telling us exactly what is and isn't incorporated? I think I might get confused otherwise, even if no one else did...

Oh, and no the note of formal applications - does that mean we might not be allowed back in...?

[identity profile] mi-guida.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* that sounds fair. As I think I mentioned above, or possibly in a comment to the previous post, come May I will be doing Finals. However, apart from Finals Week/12 Days itself, that shouldn't stop me posting at least once a day, assuming that'd be quick enough (I know a lot of the time we used to do kind of "tag" back forth comment exchanges...)

Also, are we planning on re-instating some kind of regular AIM chat? I've stopped logging in because other people stopped being online, but that doesn't mean I couldn't resume doing so!

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Does resetting mean that all the current threads will be deleted or will they be archived somewhere? It might be confusing to just start over on top of them.

What I'd want to keep and where I'd like Loki to start off again will largely depend on what characters we'll have (Shadow? Odin? ... And Luna was suggesting Hel! That'd probably have a huge impact on Loki.), what the rest of you want to drop or keep (the breakup? relationships with John, War and Crowley?) and any deadlines we might agree on (I'd like my character to be fit enough to participate in the final battle.).

And most important of all ;): Where and in what form do I send that application?

[identity profile] mi-guida.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I'd really like to keep the War/Loki dynamic going from where we've got it to and not have to start over (if you'll have me...?)

((Actually, are you ever on AIM any more these days? I now have a network it'll work on, if I thought anyone ever used it...?))

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to. It's one of Loki's best relationships and their backstory makes sense too. What about the details, though? War gave away a lot in that first conversation they had. Do you want Loki to still know these things?
I'd like to keep her having brought/bringing Loki books to the hospital wing (or an actual hospital maybe?).

(I guess unless Muri makes a surprise comeback the Uriel backstory should go and I'm considering dropping Odin having been at the manor as well. I'll need a new reason for Loki staying at the manor, but it'll be easier for a possible new Odin to start without the established backstory.)

I'm not on AIM as much as I used to as Sphinx is the only person I ever meet thee anymore. Will be in a few minutes, though, I guess.

[identity profile] mi-guida.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if we're not keeping much, then maybe we can sort of start from scratch, but still knowing they get on really well?

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, new Loki plot as it stands now: Loki came to London to be treated by a specialist there. He's had the transplant and spent a long recovery period in the hospital. After being released he's still a bit weak mostly from lack of exercise. He doesn't expect Odin to want him back and needs to have occasional checkups at the hospital so decides to stay in England for now.

Drifting about aimlessly he comes through or near Lower Tadfield and is attracted by the concentration of mythological power. This doesn't have to have anything to do with Adam. (Maybe it was the reason the satanic order built its convent there in the first place.) The place is strengthening, maybe finally gives him enough power to shapeshift again, so he decides to stay for a few days.

War being there might be a reason to extend that stay. She's a reminder of his adventures with Odin and the only person around he knows. (Assuming that we don't manage to recruit an Odin or other AG character.)

What I'm still not sure about is the donor. I thought at first it could be any random unnamed person, but Loki will consider him his blood-brother and donating bone marrow isn't as simple as donating blood. Shadow was supposed to be a suitable donor, because of an unknown blood relationship between Odin and Loki that might have come to light through this ...
Maybe I should leave this question for after we have the full cast list.

[identity profile] mi-guida.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That definitely sounds like it works. As you say, you can work out who the donor might have been once we know who's in the new game, and doesn't break the whole backstory you had built up. Presumably he'll be able to do stuff and won't just be confined to a bed, either?

I'm still not sure why War's going to be there, actually... it may depend what other horse people there are around, or maybe she's drawn to conflicting mythological powers - ? What do you think? Admittedly I'm fairly free, I never had a huge premise with her that I built my game round, but it might be nice to get more of one this time round...

(Oh, and about the hospital thread - you've got me stumped on the blond maybe-twins who don't like him...? I mean, War can be stumped in game, of course, but given she knows family stuff, I figure she might know them depending who they are!)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_silverfox/ 2008-01-14 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Confined to bed? Oh no, he's been traveling after all. He'll just tire quickly at first and maybe have trouble using his powers on the first days.

Once we have lots of demons and angels there, there should be a good level of conflict to attract her. Or maybe we'll still have a big war going on around us?

(Frey and Freya, though I'm not sure whether we shouldn't just end the thread. Then again it's something to do until the reboot.)

[identity profile] mi-guida.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yay :) It'll be fun to have an active Loki to play with.

I don't know what else will be going on, but I think the angelic/demonic conflict should suffice... that, and I can use her argument of "they're doing well enough alone, I want a break from travelling"... maybe?

(Afraid I'm still lost - are they family? My mythology is so far below par it's not even funny :( )

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyja

They're Vanir - another clan of gods apparently - but I think for our purposes it'll suffice to treat them as part of the Aesir. In earlier posts I've established that Frey often tried to bully Loki in Odin's absence. (That's Loki's perspective. He probably provoked him probably by sleeping with his sister.)

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Sudden thought: What about The Ineffables? There isn't much in there.

Me, babbling

[identity profile] malicehaughton.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh starting fresh sounds like a good idea! Since I would really like to stick with Ana here, as it is fun, it just got a bit slow at the end there, and I tend to forget things, and Loki hasn't been on AIM whenever I manage to get on (My AIM doesn't always work, its temperamental...) She used to constantly remind me to get posting.

But the reason why I hadn't posted in a while beforehand right now is mainly because I was on holiday with no computer access. And I was writing my Good Omens giftfic...which still isn't finished *hides* It'll get done one day soon...I'm right at the end of it...just a few parts left...

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
I've gotten used to sleeping in and staying up later so I can talk with Sphinx. You can always e-mail me, though.

And talking of reminders: John and Loki are waiting for you to explain the transplant idea.

[identity profile] malicehaughton.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
ah yes of course. Thank you my dear, and of course poor Luna's started thread. I will post tomorrow, it's getting late here.

[identity profile] malicehaughton.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
will do, I only recently got on the computer.

*poke* - Unless you want to leave it at that?

[identity profile] anathema-witch.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
nooo, I wanna finish it. Posted.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_silverfox/ 2008-01-23 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Post. :) (Sorry for him being so difficult, but this sits deep.)

[identity profile] anathema-witch.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
sorry, the internet is being a bitch to me lately. Sometimes MSN is the only thing that will work...and then that sometimes goes on the blink. It's better now I think. And big post to make up for it :)

[identity profile] anathema-witch.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
it was dead, I am prety sure it is fixed now, so any slowness from here on in, unless I state otherwise is my own form of laziness. I won't do that though. Well, I'll try not to anyway.

[identity profile] leucemic-god.livejournal.com 2008-02-09 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
Poke-poke!

Poke - poke - poke!

Hmm...this'll be interesting. Do I get to still be the bad guy? *gives huge volcanic orange puppy-dog eyes*

Well, I'm in agreement. We probably do need to start out fresh. Sluff off the old skin and all that. This'll be fun. :D

I, having finished my HSC, am quite interested in rejoining, and a reboot seems like the perfect opportunity. I notice you still don't have a Newt - did anyone do anything with him in my absence? Tsk. He was so much fun.

Also, thoughts on a Demonology 101 (http://faith.rydia.net/) character?
